Sea kayaking basic skills / refresher @ Fergs
Use Adventure Wellington's deeply discounted rates by enjoying an evening sea kayaking refresher/basic skills course!
This is a compulsory course for everyone doing kayaking trips with AW.
Cost: $27.50 (minimum 6 attendees or the lesson will not go ahead)
(Note: If you booked this course for just yourself, it would cost $130.00.)
What's included: Two hours of instruction from Fergs Kayaks with your own sea kayak, paddle, buoyancy aid and spray skirt.
You will not have to roll your kayak in this course -- just learn how to exit safely if you tip over in the ocean.
Where we meet: Inside Fergs Kayaks.
What to wear: YOU ARE GOING TO GET WET. This course involves learning how to rescue yourself and others in the ocean -- so it involves practice! So, wear togs with merino or polyprop over the top - don't wear long pants, denim and no cotton t-shirts. Cotton is not your friend in a kayak — it does not dry well and dissipates heat quickly. The water temps are much cooler than the air temperatures. Wool or synthetics are the way to go. If you have a wetsuit (farmer jane/farmer john), that would be ideal. Neoprene paddling shoes or dive booties are great too.

Weather: This Meetup will be reliant on the weather and is subject to last-minute cancellation. If this occurs, it will be rescheduled.

Stuart, current forecast is for light winds and maybe rain. Given you are going to be tipped out of your kayak rain shouldn't be a problem. Cancellation is usually wind related and we will confirm with Fegs @ 3pm this afternoon. So at this stage go with it's on and you are going to get wet
