A nice easy stroll for those AdventureWellingtonians who don’t (yet) feel fit enough for anything much more challenging. walking at a leisurely pace we will be able to chat as we go, pause frequently to enjoy the view and generally enjoy being out of the city and in amongst some beautiful green scenery.
We will start with the nature trail which includes the canopy walkway and the viewing platform. This is a well signposted walk with a number of steps and the path gets fairly narrow in some places but it's a gorgeous walk.
Then we'll go the Troup Picnic Area which is alongside the Kaiwharawhara Stream and on from there to the see the 800 year old rimu before coming back to the picnic area.

You can see photos of the last time the group went to Otari here
There are signs at the start of the Nature Trail asking that groups be limited to ten because it is narrow in places. As its likely to be busy we should stick to that. For this part of the walk we will split into two groups and set off 5 minutes apart (Rik will lead the second group), We'll do the start, the picnic area and 800 year old rimu as one group. If anyone would like to help with a third small group mail me and I can add some of the waiting lsit people.
If anyone else is travelling up from the Cuba/Dixon St bus stop, give me a shout if you like.
You may have seen that ealandia are offering free entry for Wellington residents this weekend. It's very near Otari so anyone who is still up for more can go on from one to the other.
The 9:47 No 14 bus from Cuba Mall/Dixon St stop is scheduled to get there at 10:08 according to the timetable, so I was aiming for that one.
I'll be taking the bus so I might as well meet you as well Jason. Is there a later one in case we miss that one?
Cool see Megan and Jase the ace *former nz tv presenter at the bus stop then
There is a later one, but it cuts it a bit fine. www.metlink.org.nz will tell you all the times from the journey planner.
Well, hopefully the weather will be kind to us. See you all tomorrow in the main car park. Remember comfortable walking shoes, water and something to eat. Those who want to can come on to Zealandia for the afternoon as they are giving free entry this weekend to people who live in greater Wellingto. Remember to bring something that proves you live in WellyOtari and Zealandia are not far from each other but there's no direct bus. anyone going by car to both want to offer lifts between them?
It's great to see how much interest there is in this. I'm keeping the numbers low because it will be the first walk I've led.
Remember, this is an easy walk, primarily aimed at those who don't feel they are (or know they are not) yet fit enough for the longer and more challenging walks. Please bear this in mind when thinking about your RSVP for this.
