Wellington Railway Station Steps (map)
PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT HAS BEEN SO POPULAR IT WILL NOW RUN APPROX ONCE A MONTH WITH A MAX OF 10 EACH TIME
A relatively easy hike/walk, in the city with a focus on getting as many of the new members to join in, meet others in the group and just generally see what we are about?
The idea is taken from an area in Brighton, England called 'The Lanes'.
The Lanes are a group of narrow, pedestrian only walkways where it is almost impossible NOT to get lost trying to find your way out! The Lanes are home to all manner of funky shops and eateries - so you kinda don't feel disappointed with being lost anyway.
So.....I've picked out some of the best narrow lanes or short-cuts in central wellington, interspersed by visits to various quirky, interesting and out-of-the-way cafes, shops, galleries etc.
This trip will take 3-4 hours including 2 longer stops of about 30 minutes each for coffee and lunch. The trip will finish at The Southern Cross on Abel Smith Street.
This is primarily for NEWBIES...those who have joined in the last few months or those who haven't attended many meetups. If you are one of our longer term members and it just sounds too good to turn down then you can RSVP too.
